[‘The Mirror’ by The Line Plastic Surgery, Second Award in Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival]
The film ‘The Mirror’ directed by Dr. Jung, YooSuk from The Line Plastic Surgery received the Second Award in Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival (CIAFF) 2014, in the category of aesthetic surgery, through the F.A.C.E. 2 F@ce Congress which is one of the biggest autumn congresses in France. It was the first time for an Asian country to receive an award in the CIAFF. Dr. Jung, YooSuk produced this film by taking a role of the director and a leading actor at the same time, and the operating scenes were filmed at The Line Plastic Surgery, located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu in Seoul. The story of ‘The Mirror’ is that a girl who has a complex about her looks gets into the ‘Mirror World’ and gains beauty with a help of a sorcerer (doctor). This theme of this film is to transfer one’s inner beauty to exterior beauty, and the film shows the enhancement of one’s self-esteem and the recovery of humanity through aesthetic surgery.
The CIAFF is a film festival held through the F.A.C.E. 2 f@ce Congress and it was the 3rd festival this year. In this festival, the best aesthetic medical film is selected and awarded. All films regarding aesthetic surgery/procedure can enter into the competition. There were 4 categories for this year’s competition; aesthetic medicine, aesthetic surgery, industry, and humanitarian efforts. This festival is said to be the biggest aesthetic film festival in the world.
Unlike other films that attracted attentions in the CIAFF so far, ‘The Mirror’ was evaluated as having a solid story and beautiful images as well as showing a perfect operation process. Also, the plot was said to be very impressive. ‘The Mirror’ will be used as publicity material for the CIAFF abroad, and you can see the film on YouTube (The Line channel) and Facebook.
