Implant Placement
Implant placement, how does submuscular differ from subglandular?
Using the pectoralis major muscle as the reference, there are three placement methods: submuscular, subglandular and dual plane.
Submuscular Placement
The implant is placed beneath the pectoralis major muscle. This is the recommended method for patients with thin breast tissue.
Subglandular Placement
The implant is placed beneath the breast gland tissue and above the pectoralis major muscle. It is suitable for patients with sufficient breast tissue thickness and is known for a natural texture and feel.
Dual Plane (Layered Breast Augmentation)
A two-plane dissection technique in which the upper portion of the implant sits beneath the muscle and the lower portion beneath the breast gland tissue. It is suitable for breasts with high mobility.
